“Purpose, Passion, Prosperity & Inner Peace. “

Available October 22, 2019

Jack MacDonald, president of TYPCO, is trying to transform his company. He’s hit a roadblock with defensive direct reports and antiquated systems that no longer serve the organization. Unsure of how to continue, he turns to business consultant and mentor Jordan Mckay, who has helped Jack with other management challenges in the past.

Jack is surprised that instead of suggesting practical business tactics, Jordan encourages him to try A Course in Miracles to open his mind and let go of ego. Though at first he’s reluctant, Jack and his wife, Judy, begin to follow the course. The personal and professional results are life-changing.

Applying the course helps Jack resolve problems at TYPCO, but he soon experiences transformations in all areas of his life: from family relationships to his daily stress levels. It also serves him well during one of the most personal trials of his life.

Readers will learn along with Jack that miracles spread across all areas of life, if only we open ourselves up to faith.

Miracle-Minded Manageris far more than a book on management. It is a book on life. We strive so hard to achieve ego-based results in both our professional and personal capacities.  In the process, we create a stress-filled life for ourselves.  Through his gifted storytelling, John Murphy describes how to achieve peace and happiness outside the office, and at the same time, he artfully explains how to take those concepts into the work-place to build a stronger, more collaborative culture and team that achieves great results with reduced stress.    It sounds too good to be true, and perhaps even miraculous.  But the teachings in this wonderful book make perfect sense.   I know from personal experience, a leader who is at peace and empowers his team as Miracle-Minded Manager teaches, also empowers his team to achieve great things.  I have urged my family to read it.  I cannot give it a higher endorsement.

—Gary Garfield, Keynote Speaker and retired Chairman, President and CEO of Bridgestone Americas, Inc.

“Society has reached a tipping point where we can no longer pretend that happiness will be achieved solely by attaining outer success. If the business world does not incorporate spirituality, then stress-related illness, depression, and even hopelessness will overtake our lives. As author John Murphy states so aptly in this monumental book, “It often takes a certain amount of suffering before people are ready to challenge the ego and open up to the Truth.”  Before your personal suffering becomes too great, I urge you to join Jack, the Miracle-Minded Manager, “with humility and an open mind,” on his miraculous  journey to discovering how anyone can live true success, happiness, and most of all, peace of mind and how you can share what you’ve discovered with those you love so that their lives can also be miraculous.

Excerpt from the book

Book Review

In this book, John J. Murphy presents the reader with eighteen characteristics of sage leadership and highlights the skills necessary to transform company cultures and turn around inefficient operations. He opens by defining sage leadership as demonstrating and teaching “ageless wisdom, spiritual virtue, and timeless, universal truth that connect with people at the soul level.”

According to Murphy, sage leadership requires an understanding of the role of Source Energy to create an environment where people work together for a common goal; a transition from “me” to “we” thinking. “Like the cells that make up our body, we are meant to work in harmony with one another for a greater good,” he writes.

Murphy develops his theory by creating building blocks to effective leadership. Leaders, he believes, must embrace characteristics like power, grace, integrity, and discipline. Each characteristic builds on the previous, leads to the next, and is based on the belief that people are spiritual beings who require clear thinking to develop understanding, self-motivation, respect, and responsibility. To develop teamwork in an organization, each member must understand and love differences in personality. “We need one another, and we are wise to accept this…The hostile teach us peace. The loud teach us quiet. The hurried teach us patience. The hateful teach us love…Contrast gives us a perfect, balanced world.”

In each chapter, Murphy defines the individual characteristics, discusses why they are important, and how they can be implemented. He offers ten ideas to practice and ends each chapter by challenging the reader to reflect upon his own values, strengths, and goals.

Murphy’s writing style is clear and concise. As he discusses business process improvements, such as Lean Six Sigma, he thoroughly explains the terms and concepts. His disciplined, structured approach offers comfort and understanding in a well-organized format.

Murphy is a prolific author with ten business improvement books to his credit. He is a business consultant, leadership coach, public speaker, and the founder of Venture Management Consultants, Inc., a firm specializing in improving work cultures. In each of his books, he teaches that true cultural change begins with spiritual wisdom and development.

Sage Leadership is a step-by-step blueprint for business owners, executives, and team leaders. It’s the kind of book that the reader will refer to often to renew his or her awareness and develop fresh ideas to inspire others.

How long has it been since you held a negative thought and responded in a critical way? Think carefully. Consider all situations: a traffic jam, a slow computer, an unfriendly neighbor, a demeaning boss, a loss of money, an excessive bill, a headache, a defective purchase, a stubbed toe, a challenging child. Do you find that you experience criticism and judgment frequently? Do certain people and situations tend to annoy you? Are you someone who gets agitated and stressed often? Now stop and imagine a life of honest, genuine peace, deep stillness, boundless joy and imperturbability in any situation. Think about how people would treat one another if we all tapped into this God given right. Seem impossible? What an outrageous concept, some might say. Such a life could not possibly exist in today’s world. Centuries, millennia in fact, prove that the world is in a state of chaos. Wars exist all around us. Poverty is abundant. Crime rears its ugly head from Wall Street to Main Street. Violence is witnessed even at peace rallies and in church parking lots. People pray and ask for forgiveness and then return to patterns of impatience, anger, greed, doubt and disbelief. Beyond Doubt offers a simple, four-step model, The Ring of Peace, to facilitate inner peace and joy in everyday life. The model teaches the seeker how to release any hidden guilt and doubt buried in the unconscious mind, thus altering perception of the world. It shows people how to see and experience the wisdom and peace of God, even in what might now seem like the most difficult circumstances. The challenge is to overcome the resistance the human ego puts forth – a battle that has been going on in the collective mind since the fall from grace. Beware of this constraint, learn to understand it and let it go. Eternal flow and divine grace will follow. Be in-Spirit and you are inspired, a state of mind where fear and doubt cannot abide.

How long has it been since you held a negative thought and responded in a critical way? Think carefully. Consider all situations: a traffic jam, a slow computer, an unfriendly neighbor, a demeaning boss. Do you find that you experience criticism and judgment frequently? Do certain people and situations tend to annoy you? Are you someone who gets agitated and stressed often? Beyond Doubt offers a simple, four-step model, The Ring of Peace, to help you release tension, anxiety and grievances from your life. It teaches ordinary people how to experience extraordinary peace of mind and equanimity.

John Murphy introduces the Ring of Peace. “Let Be, Let Go, Let See, Let Flow.” John however introduces the four steps as follows: “Let Flow, Let See, Let Go, Let Be.” To our linear thinking, this is backwards. This, my friend is the magic key, the “ah-ha” moment, the one thing that makes the curtain pull back and clarity finally lead to Truth. For many years we have been taught to “Let Be” first. As the author explains, this would be impossible for anyone to maintain. Thus many seekers simply give up or like myself, trudge onward, picking up bits and pieces here and there but something is always missing. By explaining the four steps, beginning with Let Flow, we understand each individual step more clearly, thus making more sense of the other three. Also since the four steps are in a ring, there is no beginning and no end, no linear start and finish. Just as our Spirit lives forever in the circle of life, so the ring continues from one step to the next.

Shirley Roe at Allbooks Review

The simple four-step ring of peace introduced by Mr. Murphy in Beyond Doubt is amazing. This book is so much more than the traditional self-help book. It is an eye-opening wake up call for everyone. Beyond Doubt guides us to letting go of the negative, embracing the positive and finding an unbelievable calm. Since reading this book, the self-imposed stress brought on by events beyond my control are a thing of the past. Thank you, John, for writing a book that makes sense and is easy to incorporate into anyone’s life.

“John Murphy’s book Beyond Doubt, is at once reassuring and provocative. The reassurance John offers is a simple method for claiming a sense of calm and inner peace during the most challenging situations. What’s so provocative is the message of ease and discipline in which we can obtain our most natural, resourceful state. This book has everything to do with personal development and professional growth whether you work alone, in teams, or in large organizational settings.”

“We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” ~ John Dryden

We are all creatures of habit and if you make good habits, good habits will make you. This wisdom has been around since ancient times. Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.”

The subconscious mind—the habitual mind—is over one million times more powerful than the conscious mind. This means that we spend a substantial amount of our lifetime on “autopilot,” playing out the mental programs that govern our behavior. For example, while driving a car and carrying on a conversation with someone, the conscious mind is attending to what is being said in the moment while the subconscious mind is turning on the turn signal, hitting the brakes, attending to oncoming traffic, monitoring our blood sugar, regulating our breathing, planning our next move and on and on. The subconscious mind is so vast and so powerful that we do not even know what it is thinking or capable of. It truly runs our lives—whether we know it or not!

Food for Thought…

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest asset or heaviest burden.
I will push you up to success or down to disappointment.
I am at your command.
Half the things you do might just as well be turned over to me.
For I can do them quickly, correctly and profitably. I am easily managed; just be firm with me.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a machine and the intelligence of a person.
You can run me for profit, or you can run me for ruin.
Show me how you want it done.
Educate me.
Train me.
Lead me.
Reward me.
And I will then…do it automatically. I am your servant.

Who am I? I am a habit.

It’s the only book of its’ kind in the Simple Truths library and we promise you will come away with solid steps on how to move ahead in your career goals after reading John’s book. This book is also a great gift for leaders who are looking to inspire their troops to step up in their roles at work.

What Are You Doing with Your 24 Hours Today?

How often do you hear people use time as an excuse to not get something done? We hear it quite frequently. In fact, it is one of the most common excuses (inputs) that limit successful outputs. If we don’t take time for what really matters, we cannot possibly expect an improvement in results. As Albert Einstein once noted, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

The real key then is not the amount of time we have, we all have 24 hours in a day, but is how we prioritize our activities and use the time we have.

So if you’re totally pleased with the success you’ve had in your career and in life, you can stop reading now. If, however, you’d like to “step up” and tap into your true potential, John’s latest book, Stepping Up…10 Takeaways for Advancing Your Career, is for you.

The reality is…it’s time to either Step Up or step aside.

“John Murphy has developed the art of saying ‘more’ with ‘less’ than any author I’ve known. So many times I’ve said, ‘it’s not what you say, but how you say it that turns the switch from ‘off’ to ‘on’, John’s writing style is clear, concise and engaging. He asks questions to make you think and makes his point in a way that makes the reader say, ‘Wow. I never thought of it quite that way!”

“Is your life half-empty or half-full? What if I chose to find and embrace the silver linings, the life lessons in disguise? What if I chose to let go of the baggage I have been carrying around? The choice in perception makes all the difference.” ~ John J. Murphy

We are all blessed with an opportunity to bring greater joy and prosperity to this world. The hand we are dealt simply makes life interesting. The secret to it all is in how we perceive things. Is your life “half-empty” or “half-full”? More importantly, what is even “in your glass,” and how long have you been holding on to it?

In Half-Full, award-winning author John J. Murphy shows us how this choice in perception makes all the difference.

John is also a critically-acclaimed author and sought-after speaker. Among his other books are: Beyond Doubt: Four Steps to Inner Peace; Reinvent Yourself: A Lesson in Personal Leadership; Agent of Change: Leading a Cultural Revolution; Pulling Together: The Power of Teamwork; Get a Real Life: A Lesson in Personal Empowerment; and The Eight Disciplines: An Enticing Look Into Your Personality.
